Beamish Irish Stout
As a Big Fan of Beamish Irish Stout I thought it was time for them to have a bit of a refresh to appeal to a new audience of stout connoisseurs. Being Irish is having a moment and this was a fun exercise to blending rich cultural history and the new design trends.
I started with the idea of drawing logos in the foam and having this one fluid motion that starts off as if you’re drawing a shamrock. This updated logo mark is playful and energetic and becomes instantly recognisable big or small (and is easy to draw in foam)
I paired the blocky sans serif with a flowy type to contrast with each other. The ‘R’ of the type is also a nod to old Irish pub signs with the flair on the stem. Of course I have kept the red for Cork the rebel city, but have updated it to a punchier hue. The black is also a shade more reddy to mirror the colour of the pint, the cream and gold are for accents and when used the cream is always at the top just like a delicious creamy Beamy.
