St Patrick's Day

London Irish Centre

St Patrick’s Day is Irish Christmas, one of the biggest days of the year. Unfortunately due to Covid and restrictions on events the St Patrick’s Day Parade was cancelled for the second year in a row. Without wanting to miss the festivities again St Patrick’s Day went virtual with the backing from the Mayor of London.

I worked closely with the London Irish Centre and the Mayor of London team in developing the ‘St Patrick’s Day Special’ branding, social content and screens for the live 5 hour spectacular hosted by Angela Scanlon live from the London Irish Centre in Camden. The virtual event took advantage of the wealth of creative Irish talent and had performances from the likes of Tom Grenann and Mavrick Sabre as well as chats with Dermot O’Leary and Siobhan McSweeney, as well as showcasing short films, music and poetry from the Irish diaspora.

As it was a virtual event vivid green played a key role in the branding, I wanted to create an eye catching yet simple logo that would work as a background pattern and as a marker for all content. Meshing modern and heritage together I settled on a slightly abstracted shamrock. Not a Leprechaun or pint of Guinness in sight. Using strong photography as a cornerstone I created socials that were bright, fun and engaging. The livestream was watched by 25,000 people and was a roaring success.
